"Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts."

                                         -Winston Churchill

This sentence fits me because I believe that we are never done setting goals... there is always another goal  to strive for. I also believe that failures are not failures, but rather lessons that will help us in our future successes. Always keep going because the next success (or lesson) is right around the corner.

Every since I was a little girl, I have been fascinated by the world that books could create for me. At age 3 my favorite book was Danny and the Dinosaur- a book about a young boy and his day with a brontosaurus that he met while on a trip to the museum. I had my mother read that book to me so often that I had it memorized down to what words were on which pages. I was convinced I could read and thrilled with the idea. In kindergarten, our teacher gave us a project- we were to write a book about anything we chose. I wrote a book entitled Jenny the Bear- named for my best friend. The book was terrible (I still have it to this day), but that project instilled in me at a young age that not only could I get lost in the pages of a book, but I could create storie that others could get lost in as well.

As of today, I have written several books (under a pseudonym), the last two of which were top 100 best sellers on Amazon. I self-publish, meaning that I am not supported by a publishing company, nor do I have an agent. I do however, have an editor who is as fierce with a red pen as I am.

Becoming a well know author is a next to impossible task- very few manuscripts are actually accepted by a publishing company, and of those that are, even less are actually successful. While I love to write, It is something I do for me- something that brings me joy. Right now I don't want to have a publisher's deadlines or expectations to keep up with; so I don't really want to work for a mainstream publisher as an author. I do however want to work for a major publishing company to help discover new talent... maybe the next great American novelist.

So, you want to know my career goal? I want to be a book editor, and because the two go hand in hand, eventually a literary agent. I do some freelance work now as an editor for some other self-published authors, but my career goals are lofty... I want to work for a major publishing company

This is important for my career because many (if not most) editors and agents work mostly on their own. While they may work for a company, the work involved is individual in nature- only one person can read a book at a time.
